Indian Women’s Community UK secures National Lottery grant

A SERIES of well-being and light exercise projects will get underway in Bradford after a community group secured National Lottery funding.

Indian Women’s Community UK has been successful with a funding bid from the lottery’s Community Fund.

The group will use the cash to deliver well-being and light physical exercise projects for older generations of women across the Bradford district.

The projects will get underway next month.

The Indian Women’s Community UK group was set up at the beginning of the pandemic to raise money for charities and public sector organisations most impacted by Covid-19. Members originally raised money to buy PPE for the NHS, before deciding to raise money for the Sparkle for Axl appeal. They have raised money online, with members meeting via Zoom.

An Indian Women’s Community UK spokesman hailed the lottery funding, adding it will help elderly woman back into physical meetings after they have been affected since the pandemic.
